We are pleased to welcome James back to our team of judges this year.  He is the publisher of New Zealand Geographic, NZGeo.com  former editor (2008–2017), and a contributor since 2005 in writing and photography and director of the New Zealand Virtual Reality Project.

Prior to this James spent 15 years as a professional photographer and filmmaker.


Jude Turner

Jude Turner, owner of Cravehome

We are also pleased to welcome Jude back to our team of judges this year. Jude is the owner of the homeware shop Cravehome (cravehome.co.nz), in Birkenhead Village and Chair of the Birkenhead Town Centre Association.

Jude has always had an eye for homewares, home decor, and design.


Kate Burton-Brown

Kate Burton-Brown is a freelance photographer ( Kate Burton-Brown Photography ) living in Birkenhead. Kate studied Photography and Interior Design and worked in the furniture industry before embarking on her successful photography career.

With a niche for interiors, lifestyle, and product photography, Kate works with a broad range of clients. She prides herself on capturing the essence of the brief; presenting a polished result to connect with the viewer.

Kate loves that the Birkenhead photo competition celebrates Birkenhead in all its avenues and is looking forward to judging the submissions by this year’s participants.
